Girls' School
(The Prairie Talent Girls¡¯ School)

¡¡¡¡¡°Education of girls is also education of mothers, which is the fundamental education for human beings. If we want to raise the overall quality of human beings, education of girls should be our priority¡±, said Jigme Gyaltsen, with great hope. At the beginning, the School was founded inside the monastery. It was not appropriate to enroll girls into the school because the monastery had restrictions against women living inside, so only boys were admitted into the School. However, when the School developed to be one with certain scale, he began to go to different places to look for sponsorship for establishment of a girls¡¯ school at another venue.
¡¡¡¡His efforts did not fail himself. With support from local government and the society, the preparation and construction of a girls¡¯ school began from September, 2002, with total investment of 3.5 million RMB. On October 15, 2005, all herdsmen on the prairie were rejoicing at the opening of the first girls¡¯ school (The Prairie Talent Girls¡¯ School) in all the Tibetan areas. It was the affiliated primary school under Jigme Gyaltsen Welfare School. The curriculum was similar as the Welfare School, with Tibetan-Chinese-English tri-lingual teaching. There are 203 students and 15 teachers and working members now.
